Introduction

The Spreadsheet app allows users to create and edit spreadsheets while staying within monday.com, making it easier to manage data and collaborate with teams.

Our app enables you to:

  • Collaborate with teams: Create and edit spreadsheets in real-time

  • Import data from monday.com boards or external sources ( excel files)

  • Use formulas and functions to perform calculations

  • Add formatting to your content

  • Visualize data using charts and graphs

Spreadsheet for monday.com use cases:

  1. Data tracking: monday.com spreadsheets can be used to track data such as sales, expenses, and project progress, making it easier to visualize trends and make informed decisions.

  2. Inventory management: Companies can use spreadsheets to manage their inventory, including ordering products, monitoring delivery times, etc.

  3. Task management: It can be used to manage tasks and projects, including assigning tasks to team members, tracking progress, and monitoring deadlines.

  4. Resource planning: Teams can use spreadsheets to plan and allocate resources, such as personnel and equipment, for projects and events.

  5. Customer relationship management: another use case is managing customer relationships, including tracking customer interactions, managing leads, and monitoring sales performance.

  6. Budgeting and financial planning: it can be used for financial planning and budgeting, including tracking expenses, forecasting revenue, etc.

Installation

Here are the steps to install the Live Spreadsheet app in monday.com:

  1. The first step is to go to the App Store in monday.com, which can be accessed from the left-side menu.
  1. Browse or search for the spreadsheet app. Click on the app to view its details, including a description, screenshots, and pricing details.

  2. Once the app is installed and configured, you can start using the app in monday.com and add it to:
    A board from the views center:


    A dashboard from the widgets center:

The Live Spreadsheet can also be added to an item or a custom object. 

Spreadsheets Features

Toolbar

The toolbar of the Live Spreadsheet app exposes different options and functions for users.

These options can be categorized into:

  • Collaboration: Add comments and edit in real-time:

  • Import/ export: Easily Add a .xlsx file to Live Spreadsheet or export a spreadsheet made in monday.com to an excel file. 
  • Import boards: select groups from the connected monday.com boards and import them as sheets.


Only .xlsx files are supported!


  • Actions: Undo/redo, Paint format, find and replace, search, screenshot, and print.

    • Formatting: These icons allow you to format cells, text, and other elements in your spreadsheet:
      Cells formatting: Format as currency, format as percent, decrease and increase decimal places, more formats, fill color, border, merge cells

    • Text Formatting: Font, size, bold, italic, strikethrough, underline, text color, horizontal and vertical-align, text wrap, and text rotate

  • Insert: These icons allow you to:

    • Insert images

    • Add Links

    • Create Charts: When a chart is added to a spreadsheet in a collaborative session, the chart will be updated in real-time for all collaborators with the file open. This means that any changes made to the chart, such as updating the data range or changing the chart type, will be immediately reflected for everyone in the session.

  • Formula and functions: These icons allow you to perform calculations, create formulas, and use functions in your spreadsheet. Check this link for the full list of supported formulas.

  • Pivot table: It allows you to summarize and rearrange large amounts of data in a flexible and dynamic way

  • Rows and Columns:

  • Filter and sort:

  • Data verification: Allows checking the accuracy and consistency of the data entered in a spreadsheet.
    Verification option includes:

    • Drop-down menu

    • Checkbox

    • Number

    • Number-integer

    • Number-decimal

    • Text-content

    • Text-length

    • Date

    • Effectiveness

  • Sheet Protection: restrict editing to certain cells or ranges. This can be useful if you want to prevent unauthorized changes to important data or if you need to share a sheet with others but only allow them to view or modify specific parts of it.

Right-click on any cell and the context menu will appear with a list of options related to the selected cell. This can include options available in the toolbar and other options like copy and paste.
