How to add Smart Courses to a previously created board

It is highly recommended to create a Smart Courses board using the Smart Courses template. However, you can also add courses to previously created boards.

Smart Courses can be accessed on a board without using the template only when all required columns are added. These required columns can be created from scratch but they must have the same column title, column type, and column ID as detailed in this table.

In order to create columns with a specific column ID, follow these steps:

1. Click on the Add column button
2. Click on More columns
3. In the Column Center, navigate to the missing column type
4. Click on the ellipsis (...) and click on Create with specific column id
5. Copy the appropriate column ID from the table and paste it into the new column ID

Smart Courses can be added to a previously created board only if this board has never had any Smart Courses columns. If an ID of a Smart Courses required column was previously used in the board, it is no longer possible to reuse the same ID for a new column.
